Worship Arts

Music has always been a vital part of the church’s liturgical script. For this reason we approach musical worship much the same way that we approach our worship structure: anchored in past tradition while engaging the musical language and culture that is Philadelphia today.

The Worship Arts group within City Church is responsible for providing musical leadership to this end for our Sunday Worship celebration. We see worship as an important outlet in our redemptive engagement with the arts, and because music is such an important medium for worship, we place a high value on musical aesthetics and artistry.

If you are a trained musician and would like to talk more about using your gifts at City Church, our Worship Arts group is led by Randy Pendleton.

Below are musicians who currently lead our community in musical worship:

  • Randy Pendleton, bass, vocals
  • Katie Becker, guitar, vocals
  • Matt Davis, guitar
  • Laurel Garver, vocals
  • Mike Kelly, drums
  • Dan Kleiman, piano
  • Jie Jin, cello
  • Lisa Beth Lambert, violin
  • Herb Smith, guitar
  • Josh Stamper, guitar
  • Webb Thomas, drums
  • Tim Wendel, guitar
  • On special occasions, City Church also worships with musicians from the Curtis Institute of Music.

Musicians in the Community We are very excited about City Church musicians using their gifts in the greater Philadelphia music scene. Other venues where members of our Worship Arts group are playing in the area will be posted here.
