Ministry and Event News
- Men’s Summer Fellowship All men are invited to a time of evening fellowship, study and prayer this summer. The fellowship will be Wednesday nights at 7pm and will run for 6 weeks, from July 9th thru August 13th, at the home of Jason and Kristen Hsu (4827 Larchwood). This promises to be a great time for growth in faith, sharing of life together, and camaraderie. For more information, contact Adam Hayes. They will be studying the book “Simply Christian” by N.T. Wright. The book can be purchased after any City Church worship service or ordered from our Resources page.
- Women’s Book Swap City Church women are hosting a “Book Swap”on Friday, July 18, 7:30PM at the Bartholomew home (430 S. 47th). All women are urged to bring a new or used book you enjoyed reading to exchange. There will be great fellowship, dessert and discussion on “the place of story in
our lives.” So come, bring a book, bring a friend, and swap both! For more info, contact Stacy Bartholomew.
- Membership Seminar The next City Church Membership Seminar will be on Saturday, July 26, 9AM-12PM at the Bartholomews’ home (430 S. 47th). This is a great way to learn more about the vision and commitments of City Church in order to determine if this is the right place for you to get connected to Christian community. There is no obligation to become a member, but the seminar is a requirement for membership. Please RSVP to Jason Hsu if you would like to attend.
- Women’s Daytime Bible Study The women of City Church are continuing to gather for a weekly time of Bible Study and encouragement Wednesday mornings from 10-12pm at the home of Amy and Steve Blum (4647 Hazel Ave). Childcare is provided, with a requested $5 donation. For more info, contact Amy Blum.
- Graduate Roundtable The Graduate Roundtable is an inter-disciplinary reading and discussion group for graduate students who are interested in theological reflection about scholarly issues that emerge in academic discourse. Readings will range from method and theory of academic life as a Christian to common questions and quandaries found in humanities and social sciences disciplines. The Graduate Roundtable will be on break for the summer and will resume meeting in September 2008. Contact Tuck Bartholomew for more information or to be put on the e-mail list for reading materials. Many thanks to David Decosimo for his leadership of the Graduate Roundtable in its first year.
